{IC} Communal Notification Board

Recommended Posts

[ A large, shiny and new bulletin board is posted in the Mobile Infantry barracks with a single large flier posted front and center upon the board. A small bowl of thumbtacks and smaller scraps of paper reside nearby, available to any and all who require it. Parchment with red ink is stapled in the centre. ]

"This community board exists to leave notes upon that pass information to other individuals. It is not, to quote Sergeant Maclagan verbatim, "For shit-posting". Any such notifications, letters or other items will be dealt with by way of Vandalism charges."

(A parchment is pinned to the barracks board with a red ink used upon it.)
To all those who require my assistance or services, here is a list of Rites that I can perform.
The Rites of Fortification, these are utilised when an infantry member has been shaken mentally or damaged physically and requires assistance in recovery. The Litanies deployed are intended to help convert any morose and negative emotions that afflict the individual into a more directed fury that can better both the individual and enable them to be more resistant to trauma that may cause such effects in the future.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of Remembrance, used to both mourn the loss of an individual, typically a trooper, and invoke a sense of vengeance and retribution in those who are present. The individual who has deceased is represented by either a chunk of flesh from their cadaver or a suitable replacement which is then placed upon a linen cloth kept in place by each of the four corners being pinned by an incense candle. An object related to the deceased's profession is then embedded into the flesh or substitute, such as a shell casing if they were a soldier, with an object of personal significance laid either onto, into or beside the flesh or substitute. The Litany of Remembrance is then invoked prior to the collection of items being buried suitable to the situation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of Judgement, reserved for situations where an individual is of an indiscernible allegiance that may affect others who interact with them. A battery of tests are deployed involving various Litanies which shall potentially highlight whether the individual stands with humanity, or would rather render harm unto those that do.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of Persecution, are pursued when an individual is knowingly attempting to cause harm to an individual usually by means of enticing them to commit criminal acts or subvert them to worship a religion. The Litanies and requirements of the Rites result in a directed effort to prevent the individual's actions from being effective and ensnaring their target in the web of deceit typically cast by those who attempt to entice others into a religious practice.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of Vindication, deployed in situations, or at the request of an individual, where the need for resolve is paramount to the success of an attempt to conduct an action. Examples of such situations include when morale has broken across the battlefield, an individual is unsure of coming forth against their superior when the former has evidence proving the latter is an enemy of the Federation, or any other such situation where confidence and surety is required.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of the Tempestus, performed when the fury and fervour of an individual or group of individuals is required such that they can operate as efficiently as possible, such as during a deployment. Usually the Rites are invoked at the discretion of the individual whom performs the Rites however it may also be requested. The Rites of the Tempestus typically work at their best prior to, and during the peak of, an engagement. If performed correctly, some individuals affected by the Rites can become insensate, single minded in their goal to eliminate the enemies of Mankind.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of the Scion, used in situations that require a diplomatic or aggressive interaction with a notable individual or group of individuals such as when trying to obtain information from civilians with regards to terrorist cells operating in the local area. The Rites require that the invoker be at least mediocre in the use of two languages to try and avoid potential language barriers. Should a diplomatic stance be required, the Rites are relatively straight-forward in their usage with clear instructions on what to and what not to do. An aggressive stance however is typically reserved for uncooperative individuals or enemies of Mankind that hold essential information that must be obtained no matter the cost.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of the Fallen, invoked when the Rites of Fortification are deemed to either have failed or are insufficient for the situation involving an individual. The intent of the Litanies and actions involved with the Rites are significantly more direct and supportive of that specific person that they cannot be applied universally and instead require extensive preperation for use. The ultimate goal when the Rites are used is to attempt to bring about a change in an individual that prevents them from pursuing an unwanted action that could result in the gift of life being prematurely extinguished.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rites of Lamentation and their use is entirely dependant on the situation that presents itself. Typically, they are used at the moment of an individual's death that affects both the individual performing the Rites as well as other individuals nearby. The intent is to try and reduce the impact of the death at that moment in time so that the negative effects caused do not impede nor prevent any individual from performing their duties. Typically the Rites of Remembrance are twinned with these Rites to assist the individuals.

The Christmas tree.

With that time of year coming along, we've decided to follow the battalion tradition and erect a Christmas tree. We invite all troopers to assist in decorating this, as long as they keep it within sensible bounds and keep with the Christmas theme. If you wish to store any presents under the tree, there will be a provost officer and security camera watching the area, ensuring no thieves ruin the season for the rest of us.

Thank you to the following who originally assisted in placing and decorating the tree:

3Spc. Takayama

MSgt. Bellic

Sgt. Falco

Cpt. Ziola

2Spc. York

Signed: Staff Sergeant Kowalski

*A sticky note is posted to the notification board. Big blocky letters cover the note. It reads...*

HEY GUYS

IT'S DAVE

I HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF BEING REMINDED OF BOOT CAMP THE OTHER DAY

MORE SPECIFICALLY, HOW WE USED TO SING CADENCES AND STUFF WHEN WE MARCHED FOR HOURS ON END ACROSS BARREN MOUNTAIN RANGES (I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE, RIGHT?)

CADENCES (I THINK THAT'S THE RIGHT WORD) WERE A PART OF MILITARY TRADITION, EVEN BEFORE THE FED,  AND I THINK THE 112th IS LONG OVERDUE FOR ONE.

I DON'T PLAN ON THIS BECOMING AN OFFICIAL THING, BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE NEAT TO HAVE SOMETHING TO MAYBE SAY IN ADDITION TO THE 'DEATHMAKERS' STUFF.

I am a trooper, this is my creed.
Anything with more than two legs, I'll surely make bleed.
The things that go bump in the night, look best down my sight;
From Sol to Sagittarius, we'll bring the fight.

Beset by war, in an age of strife
One thing remains constant- the ones who'd lay down their life;
Clad in grey and assembled in ranks,
the next time you see them, give them your thanks.

We are the first and last, for the human race.
I will struggle and strive, 'til sweat streams from my face.
When the hour grows dark, and the outlook is grim,
On the bounce, trooper; it's time to drop in.

Against all odds, we will prevail.
We will triumph where other have failed.
I am a trooper, this is my creed.
My Morita and kevlar is all that I need.
Next time you see me, holding the line...

FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO END IT. HELP! WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE SHOUTING WHEN YOU MARCH ON SOME FAR-FLUNG ROCK CRAWLING WITH BUGS? IT CAN BE INSPIRING, FUNNY, WHATEVER YOU THINK BEFITS THE SPIRIT OF THE 112th! THIS IS FOR US, AFTER ALL! WRITE YOUR OWN VERSE (OR REWRITE THE WHOLE THING!!!!) WE CAN PICK WHICH ONE IS BEST!

CHEERS

A note, printed:

Behaviour in the medical bay:

When in the medical bay, be aware that you are in the domain of medical personnel. If they tell you to do something (including leave), comply immediately and without complaint. Their job is to keep us healthy. The least we can do is make it easy for them. If we get any more notifications about medics' jobs being made difficult, we will come down hard.

And another:

Funerals:

Anyone wishing to speak at the funerals of Specialist Skye, Lance Corporal Marsh, or Sergeant Hedgeworth, please find me at earliest convenience to make arrangements.
