  9. Arclight is.. to put it simply, a cesspit of corporate backroom dealings, gangs, and poverty piled up on top of one another. Being on the Outer Rim, or quite near to it, has put the planet in a precarious position. While the arm of the Federation is long, it doesn't reach for eternity. The Arclight Corporate Board has effective control of every aspect of the planet, but that doesn't mean they're actually in control. Sometimes, the ACB requires a more.. brutal touch to their operations. This is where the Runners of Arclight come into play. Not an effective organization, but more a large population of downtrodden individuals with certain skills that are required by the Board. Expendable and deniable assets, they are used like cannon fodder in the secret wars between individuals on the Board, but they stand to make more money then they ever could slaving away in the factories that dot the planet. However, everyone must start at the bottom. Without the money, skills, technology, and equipment of the so-called 'Prime Runners' of legend, the lifestyle these people have chosen is short, brutal, and deadly. Most do not survive, and other still are warded away from the lifestyle by the inherent constant danger of being betrayed by their Corporate overlords. However, if one is determined, smart, and quick on their feet, one can do a lot of good for themselves in this business. (( Neon Rain will be an in-universe Shadowrun campaign, using heavily modified rulesets in order to fit the SST universe. If you are interested in joining this once-in-a-lifetime experience, please contact me on Discord at Valkrae#7065, or on the forums via a private message. There are a limited number of slots available, however, as characters die, more slots will open. If this becomes a popular thing, the possibility of more slots, or separate groups opening will appear as needed. ))

    Shu-Wei Zhang

Fuck your ancestors to the eighteenth generation. " " - Unknown Basic Information Name: Shu-Wei Zhang Place of Birth: Karrus Date of Birth: 12th of August, 2244 Age: 55 Gender: Female Height: 5'5" Physical Description: Weight: 156 lbs Hair colour: Black Eye colour: Brown Military Information Rank: Petty Officer Third Class Branch: Fleet Date of Enlistment: April 3rd, 2299 Years of Service: >1 Service Record: - Assigned the Ulysses S. Grant - Promoted to Crewman - Branded as a traitor to the Federation - Promoted to Petty Officer Third Class Personal Information Family: An unnamed husband, seven children, various cousins, aunts, uncles, and other extended family. All deceased. Backstory: Zhang was born on Karrus, but she was moved to Earth by her parents in order to take care of her aging grandmother. She met her husband, a Citizen, on Earth. During the Fall of Terra, her family was killed, but she managed to survive. Directly after the last family member was confirmed deceased, she enlisted in the Federal Fleet. Characteristics: Matronly, Quick to Discipline, and curt. Strengths & Weaknesses: Zhang is strong, independent, disciplined, and intelligent. However, she has shut out most others from her true self, instead putting on a stone facade in order to protect what remains of her spirit. Other Information: Personal Relationships Friendly | Liked | Neutral | Disliked | Hated Carson 'Fox' Sawyer - She reminds me of my eldest daughter. Strong-willed, and independent, but lacking in the experience that comes with age. I believe she wants to do what is best for the ship, and her pilots, but she might get overworked and that is not good for the mind. She is too thin. She should eat more. I can see the bones in her cheeks, and that is unhealthy. Rangi Setu - While only thirty, he has the mind and soul of someone twice his age. I sense a kindred spirit in him. Someone worn out from life, and spread too thin. I see an exhaustion in his eyes, something that I can only temper lightly with words. Oh, if I were younger. If only. Roskana Nejem - My surrogate daughter. She has been ill as of late, and it has me worried to my core. I have attempted to ease her suffering sickness with tea, and other herbal aids, but it only seems to abate whatever she has. I have.. grown close to her, during the course of this criminal endeavor. I hope she begins to feel better. Gods help the soul of any man who dares hurt her while I still draw breath. Alvaro Lupinacci - The smoothest, suavest man I have ever met. Although, a bit on the skinny side. He is an intelligent, and honest man. Respectable, and polite. He is near, and dear to my heart, just as Nejem is. If anything were to happen to him, there would be hell to pay.
  14. Warfare is a department of vital important to the continued survival and operation of any vessel. It is responsible for monitoring and distributing power to the many sub-stations of the vessel, as well as operating the 'Aegis', 'Durandel' and 'Eclipse' arrays. A Warfare specialist is always on-duty, monitoring the ambient radiation around the ship, looking for anything that might cause the vessel harm. Warfare consists of both Engineering and 'Warfare' itself, however both of these require independent operators under certain conditions. For more precise equipment specifications, please read this for further information. DAILY DUTIES FOR WARFARE A Warfare specialist will have a variety of duties throughout the day that will occupy their time. These duties are, again, of vital importance. The 'Aegis' Self-Defence Scanner System is the system that Warfare operatives will be using most, as it is almost always active and detecting for any anomalies in the background radiation in the area around the vessel. It requires no manual operation to function normally, however, an operative must always be present in order to monitor for any anomalous readings. If an anomalous reading is detected, the reading is reported to the Bridge Crew present,. Bear in mind, that focusing the 'Aegis' will render the area not being scanned as a 'dark zone' and will be essentially blank. BATTLE CONDITIONS: It is inevitable that your vessel will come under assault, or crisis a great many times during your time of service. However, with preparation, a calm head, and skill, any situation can be dealt with, using protocol, following orders, and ingenuity. However, in order to make things a tad simple, here are the duties of Warfare operatives under the various Battle Conditions of the Fleet. Condition Four A single Operative will be present, monitoring both the Warfare and Engineering systems. Due to the nature of being in friendly space, they will likely be one of two members on the Bridge, apart of the 'skeleton crew' needed to operate the vessel in friendly space. Duties will include monitoring the 'Aegis' system for any anomalies, and reporting findings to the Officer currently in charge of the Bridge. Condition Three A single Operative will be present, monitoring both the Warfare and Engineering systems. This is the standard operational condition of the Fleet, and where most of the operatives time will spent. A majority of time will be spent, staring at empty space, but one must remain vigilant. Threats can emerge from the blackness of space at a moments notice. At Condition Three, a Warfare Operative is the vessels first line of defense against any threat to the vessel. Duties will include monitoring the 'Aegis' system, and reporting findings to the Officer currently in charge of the Bridge. Condition Two The calm before the storm. A threat has been detected to the vessel, and all crew are to be in their designated position. Two Operatives will be present, one monitoring the Warfare system, and one monitoring the Engineering system. The duties of the Warfare system are to monitor the 'Aegis' system, and to direct either it or the 'Durandel' at any target dictated by the Officer in charge of the Bridge. Operatives are to be extremely vigilant, and to report ANY anomalous readings to the OiC. Keep in mind, that activating the 'Durandel' will mark the vessel, as if planting a big target on it. The 'Durandel' is not advised for moments where the vessel should need to be stealthy, or otherwise remain undetected. Condition One The storm, the hellfire, the fury of battle. This is where a Warfare Operatives creativity and ingenuity will shine through. At Condition One, there is an active threat to the vessel, and all stations are alert and manned. Two Operatives will be present, one at Warfare, and one at Engineering. The Warfare Operative will be acting as ordered by the OiC, however, in the event that free-reign is given to the Operative, there are a variety of things that the subsystems of Warfare can do. DAILY DUTIES FOR ENGINEERING While not as glorious, or flashy as the Weapons or Warfare systems, the Engineering department holds a very vital importance to the continued safe operation of any vessel. It is responsible for monitoring and operating the power output and distribution of the various sub-systems of the station. This includes moving power to certain systems in order to increase their output, or transferring power out of less vital systems. This also includes monitoring for any anomalous fluctuations in the internal power-grid of the vessel. Without a capable Engineering operative, ships will not be able to get power where it is needed at a moments notice, transfer too much power to one station and cause an overload, or siphon power away from vital systems and leave the vessel vulnerable. It is the backbone of any vessel, and the operatives who work in this department must be precise, and efficient. Condition Four A single Operative will be present, monitoring both the Warfare and Engineering systems. The Engineering side of operations will be to monitor the ships power flow, ensuring that the vessel is safe to continue operating in a normal capacity. Condition Three A single Operative will be present, monitoring both the Warfare and Engineering systems. The Engineering side of operations will be to monitor the ships power flow, ensuring that the vessel is safe to continue operating in a normal capacity. The Operative must be ready to quickly transfer power to vital systems in a crisis. Condition Two A Warfare Operative will be present at both stations. The Engineering station will be responsible for monitoring the power flow of the vessel, as well as transferring power to any station or system as ordered by the OiC. Condition One A Warfare Operative will be present at both stations. The Engineering station will be responsible for monitoring the power flow of the vessel, as well as transferring power to any station or system as ordered by the OiC. They will also be responsible for making sure that, in the event of any damage sustained, Mobile Infantry Engineering teams are dispatched to assess and repair it.
