Backstory:
Harlesda had a simple life in every means, not very eventful, not very significant. Kept out of trouble in high school, pulled good grades, lived an average life. Like every young teenager, especially a male, he wanted to prove his manhood and obviously kick ass while doing it. Coupled with his inclination, interest, and desire to go into medicine, he decided to enlist in the Mobile Infantry, specifically the Medical Corps.
Character/Personality:
Harlesda is not one to lie to you about how he feels and while doing it he can be loud and brash. However, you will not find a more loyal person to be at your side as, despite the tough and non-caring exterior he puts on, he has significant trouble actually keeping a grudge. He may not like you, but he'll do his damnedest to protect you in combat, even if you fuck up. Furthermore, he can be a bit...eccentric at times to say the least, one day you may find him drunkenly dancing in the bar and the next you will find him blasting First World War German songs and ranting about how the Kaiser could have won the war, then switch right to loudly discussing something incredibly obscure with ferocious determination to win the debate. He will take any situation and make fun of it, poking fun of the irony and the comedy in the situation in hopes to lift spirits of those around him and his own. A vast majority of the stuff he does that seems random is just to make people laugh and to have fun because he knows how shitty of a situation they are all in.
As time has passed on and Harlesda has served for longer and longer in the Mobile Infantry, it's changed him. At his core, he is ultimately the same, brutally honest, loud, and still brash. However, Harlesda would have never wanted to genuinely be rude, mean, or anything like that. Wow that is not the same anymore. Most of the platoon he despises, viewing them as incompetent, weak, emotional, or 'edgy'. His humor has shifted from trying to lift the spirits of others and poke fun at their shitty situation to pure teasing or provocation, he still makes the same type of jokes and seems incredibly sarcastic about everything. The few he does still respect are those in medical, mostly, and a few in the regular Infantry. Harlesda has no problem being mean or rude to someone because he simply does not care anymore. He has developed an extreme cynicism and dark sense of humor which he views as the only honest and good way to get through life. Cold and bitter are other words someone could use to describe him. His anger stems from the fact that so many people he knew have died despite his hardest efforts, a frustration that people die and he really could not have done much about it. Harlesda does not care how you feel, nor will he ever care. He's not stupid though and knows that being rude or insubordinate to his superiors will land him in serious trouble so he'll be cordial at best to them and do as he is told. However, at his core, he still knows why he enlisted and that was to help and protect people of which he is an even more staunch believer in. He will still work day and night to save someone's life, but you won't see any sympathy from him afterward, only the cold hard truth and probably a joke with you as the butt of it.
Life has not been kind to him, so why should he be kind to you?
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strength: Incredibly stubborn, meaning if he's given a task, he's gonna do it or try his best at it (quality varies)
Strength: Has become incredibly good at zoning out usually traumatic images.
Weakness: Does not always appear to be a nice nor caring person, can be seen as an enormous dick at times.
Weakness: Procrastination skill/levels are off the charts, he'll still do the work, but by god will he procrastinate it.
Weakness: Really internalizes things and very rarely talks about his emotions, meaning sometimes he can snap easily for no apparent reason or be very on edge.
