Howdy! As noted in Xalphox's State of the Union announcement, it is no unknown fact that we are still going through the usual morale and player count drops that plague every GMod server during the first part of each new school year. In addition to these aforementioned problems, it's also been noted that mission quality has been dropping. This issue can be attributed to numerous reasons, such as Thanksgiving/upcoming Christmas holidays taking up the time of admins, and admins who have run out of personally interesting topics that would normally spark their creativity. While it'll be a long process to solve each of these problems, we can at the very least get started in ironing out a player schedule to assist our admins in figuring out when they should be preparing to run their missions, and how long each mission should probably last. Completing this survey will allow our admins to plan out their events in advance, rather than essentially forcing them to make assumptions about who or when runnings events should be done while also ballparking server activity. Admins and Players are recommended to take five minutes out of their day to complete the following Availability Survey to the best of their ability. Your answers are not commitments. Your answers are estimations and you will not be held accountable to follow through with them.

I would like to think it wasn't my fault for going through three Blue Falcons within fifteen minutes. Marauders are too bulky. Glass is also, apparently, too bulky. Maybe it's not the Marauders who should be blamed for the Infantry's problem with not holding down RMB.

For documentation purposes... The XA's have reached an agreement regarding a plan on how to address the issues mentioned above and in private conversations. The guidelines/points of the agreement will remain private and only shared amongst the administrative team unless Xalphox gives his explicit approval for its dissemination.

@Michael Conway This is something that needs to be fixed -- Dimov is one of the more senior NCO's and needs to be able to hop on to assist in resolving issues with the largest faction of the server. Perhaps it has something to do with the song that plays during the loading time? Garry's Mod is not the most stable of programs, and it wouldn't surprise me that loading a song might cause conflicting issues with certain user PC's.

Would love to have a "X player has just joined! Help them out!" message be sent to admins whenever a new character/player is created and loaded into the server. Helps us grab new players that need to be given a rundown.

Seeing as how it's now beginning to be discussed in an open forum, I feel the need to address the situation regarding leadership. Centrix, Fox, and Gabes have all stepped away from the community due to one reason or another. The reasons behind their actions are not needed, because discussion of what has happened only detracts from the discussion of the future. The solution to the leadership concerns is that I will take control over InSec and have them fall directly under Zaiger's care until after changes are made. Yes, plans have been being made for two weeks. Yes, the preparations were slow. It was only recently that an old friend flew from the heavens and presented unto me the cream to that unscratchable itch. Yes, this survey does help refine those plans. Yes, I would love additional survey responses. And yes, the currently active marine playerbase have had an opportunity (albeit just today) to voice their opinions on the changes. The changes proposed have been overwhelmingly approved of. I will begin writing documents up and publishing them to the dreaded wiki. @Xalphox

This is correct. The Federation does not discriminate in any fashion. Otherwise, it would be more selective with who is even allowed to take the Oath. Ultimately, the mindset of the Federation is that it prioritizes merit and excellence over gender studies. The Federation hates using studies as a barrier to entry (opening class sequence in SST1). The study explains why something may be the case (after the Federation was curious about X and financed the research). The study does not affect standards or other internal processes/examinations.

This survey is incredibly important. This survey is the most direct way to present your case or options to the administration team for discussion when you feel that a general post on the forum is not going to get a fair amount of respect or attention to the talking points. All members of the community, regardless of rank or authority, are recommended to provide their input.

@El Excellente Please fix the female_06 model so it has proper walking/running animations. Every other animals is fine. Also, they appear as an error on the scoreboard. Fix it, you fuck.

If Autoexec.cfg does not exist, create it as a text document. Make sure the file saves as a .cfg (renaming won't always work, you'll need to change the file-type entirely) and open it. Once it is open, copy and paste the following code into the file: alias duck_on "+duck; alias toggleduck duck_off" alias duck_off "-duck; alias toggleduck duck_on" duck_off bind ctrl toggleduck That's it. Save it, restart Gmod if you have it open. ctrl at the bottom can be substituted for whatever control you'd like. I, personally, use "alt" (left alt key) as my toggle crouch, but you can assign it to whatever you'd like. I've been using this for the better part of 5 months - and let me tell you, it's saved myself from a PK numerous times. Better yet, only allow for Month and DOB, then prompt for the characters current age so the script can set the year, itself.

Just this morning, they provided me a link to a Twitch-esque website in an attempt for them to trick me with a "Your Adobe Reader is Out Of Date, download here" scam. The Steam account has many friends listed from SST on the account's friendslist. Go ahead and block/remove them from your list as well as report them for phishing attempts/scams, as the original player is either not in control of the account or the player has become volatile to the rest of the community as a whole. Hi all, There has been a crazy amount of misunderstanding when it comes to the laws & regulations that troopers are expected to abide IC, and I think some clarification is needed. I appreciate Bospy's efforts, however given the issues we had recently I think we need something a bit more authoritative on the issue. In order of precedence, our law will come from the following sources: United Citizens Federation law as defined by the Geneva Council (which will OOCly be defined by the admin team). UCF law trumps all other sources, meaning it can directly overrule the US UCMJ, Captains Law or any other form of authority. See here for the Federation laws. Accepted Starship Troopers canon: where a reputable SST source defines any laws, conventions or regulations, unless it has specifically been superseded by UCF law as defined by admins. Where an offence is not specifically covered within UCF law, the US Uniform Code of Military Justice (http://www.ucmj.us) will be used. My justification behind using this is a) they have wording that has stood the test of time for three centuries and b) the wording from the book (ch. 5) for striking a superior officer matches the wording from the UCMJ closely, suggesting that Heinlein intended for the UCF to have been based upon that. Standing orders from commissioned officers. A standing order affects all officers, non-commissioned officers and ratings who fall below the issuing officer's rank. Henceforth "Captain's Law" will not be a distinct field, and will simply fall under this - the Captain being an O-6 (equivalent to an MI Colonel). Violations of standing orders should be punished by NJP (however this does not preclude offences from other bodies of law being levied in a court-martial). There will be three forms of body charged with issuing judgement and sentencing, in order of severity (lowest to highest): Non-judicial Punishment: this can be issued by any senior non-commissioned officer (Sergeant+, or in the absence of a Sergeant+, a Corporal.) to a lower rank, and can include confinement for up to 1 hour, demotion up to 1 rank, or the issue of orders designed to discipline (like swabbing the deck). The defendant can dispute an NJP and request a court-martial, however a court-martial can re-sentence and issue a much harsher punishment. Any arrests made under or for an NJP-level offense will be limited to 15 IRL minutes in the brig, maximum. Higher level crimes last up to 48 IRL hours to allow for Officers to prepare a Court Martial. Summary Court-martial: a summary court-martial is the first form of proper trial. It is still somewhat informal, being presided over by any impartial superior commissioned officer. It is more a statement of facts from both parties than a proper trial, after which the presiding officer will issue judgement and sentencing. The maximum punishment it can issue is confinement up to 24 hours, demotion to any rank, and up to 20 lashes. There is no automatic right to appeal, however an officer superior to the presiding officer can order a re-trial. General Court-martial: a general court-martial is the last and final form of court within the UCF military. It is a formal affair, usually being held publicly (except where circumstances do not permit it) before a panel of 3 commissioned officers superior to the defendant. There are no limitations on the punishments it can issue, however any sentence that results in a de facto TK/CK (anything that means that character cannot be used on ship for the foreseeable future, including death, discharge or reassignment) requires a unanimous verdict.
