As mentioned in a previous thread, the civil war storyline has been somewhat on hold thanks to a series of trips abroad and an unexpected bout of illness that put me in the hospital for a few days (yay for socialized healthcare).
The original plan was to run a campaign for the invasion of Faraway but the general impression I'm getting is that everyone is sick of fighting the Draconians and frankly it would be unwise for me in my present state to run a Omega-style 3 day campaign so soon after a serious illness. Therefore we're going to draw a line of that and celebrate our victory over the god damn separatists.
The State of the Union
The Centauran Empire and the Draconian Hegemony are no more: the former voluntarily becoming an equal partner with the Sixth Fleet in order to form the self-titled "Coalition", and latter falling to the combined might of this new grand Coalition.
The great war between Sanctuary and the Federal Unionists has locked what were originally the two greatest factions into what seemed to be a death spiral, and has taken many millions of lives - but the outcome of the war has become ever more clear as the Unionists lose the vast majority of their territory, including their capital. It seems they are casting their final death throes - after this, it can all but be assumed that Sanctuary will once again turn their gaze southwards.
The business-minded Colonial Confederation, made up of some of the largest corporations within the former UCF, have bided their time, remaining cordial with Sanctuary through a policy of compliance and non-confrontation whilst continuing to maintain trading relationships with all other partners (except the Unionists who Sanctuary forced the Confederation to stop trading with some time ago).
The Coalition (headed by the Sixth Fleet alongside the remnants of the Centauran Empire and the conquered Draconian Hegemony) now find themselves to be the second biggest successor state after Sanctuary - and with the Unionists in clear decline, it is clear who will be next in Sanctuary's sights.
A war council will convene this evening to discuss a plan of action.

As of last night at 18:00 UTC +2, mysterious craft of unknown origin began to assault the European continent without relent or mercy. Reports are uncertain, as the Federal satellite network is no longer responding, but reports from the continent indicate that Mobile Infantry forces are heavily engaged with the unknown invaders. The reported damage among the cities of Europe is truly shocking.
The images we've received of this damage are disturbing.
Undoubtedly our brave Mobile Infantry and Fleet are regrouping to drive these invaders back into the darkness from whence they came!
Until then, our hearts and prayers go out to those men and women still trapped within the borders of Europe.
We'll keep you posted as updates come in.
UPDATE #1
As of the time of this reporting, we've lost contact with our affiliate stations in Munich and Kiev.
Reports that Geneva has also been attacked are filtering in as we speak. The 13th Moritas Rifle Brigade is rumored to still be within the city and was last reported to be holding the line at the Federal Council Building.
The current whereabouts of the Sky Marshall and other members of the Federal Council are unknown.
UPDATE #2
Initial reports of the unknown craft being spotted over North America have been confirmed. Clashes between Mobile Infantry and the invaders in the territory of Quebec have been confirmed. Concurrent reports also indicate the city of Santiago in Chile has come under assault. Further reports will be brought to you as they happen.

We're taking you live to Fednet reporter Mark Engell in New York City.
Mark: The situation here has degraded significantly. The invaders have been pushing through the Niagara region down into upstate New York. Mobile Infantry forces have inflicted withering casualties on the invader forces, but they seem to keep coming. Thousands upon thousands of them. The 212th Morita Company has fallen back to the edge of New York City, which has already experienced the first wave of enemy bombers..."

As of this time, we have lost contact with all other stations. Last we heard, South America and Oceania have fallen. Asia is burning and Federal forces in North America have splintered and gone underground. We have received reports of active units in Russia, but they can't be confirmed.
It is recommended that all people, civilian and citizen alike seek shelter at once.

Happy Holidays from the Fednet family.
It seems as though the colonies of our fine Federation have been found on the naughty list.
Following a chain of weapons smuggler arrests towards the source of the security breach, Federal investigators discovered a link between numerous weapons shipments, both legal and otherwise, to high profile members of the anti-war Colonial Party.
Fearing the worst, Federal investigations crews penetrated deeply into the operation, implanting intelligence agents on all levels.
What they discovered, was shocking:
More than a dozen colonial governments, in several systems have undergone a massive weapons buildup.
The shipments contained everything from Morita rifles
to old armored vehicles.
To artillery pieces.
The intent of this buildup is unknown, but one of the agents had this to say:
"Things were normal among the rank and file, but the head honchos were nervous. Something spooked these guys bad-these were the same guys who didn't even flinch when Centennia got glassed. Whatever it was, they're terrified of it."
Officials from the Colonial party have not responded to requests from FEDNET, however the Colonial Party did put out the following statement-
"These are troubling times. Since the tragic downfall of Centennia, the security situation on many of the outer colonies has degraded significantly. If the recent fall of the Zeconis system proves anything, its that not even systems guarded by the Mobile Infantry are safe. The outer colonies have been requesting further logistical aid from the Federation, but none was forthcoming. To ensure the protection of our people, measures needed to be taken one way or another."
The Colonial Party came under scrutiny recently for it's volunteer protection force that has arisen in the aftermath of Centennia. Critics claim that the militia has become a more centralized form of the typical Planetary Defence Forces that guards a planet. This rather dangerous centralization of power hampers the Federations own authority on these colonies.
Update: Colonial Chairwoman Donna Miller has been issued a recall to Terra to appear before the Federal Council and explain her parties behavior.
