  3. AFC-FG-103-Charles H. Upham (UCF-103) Navigation Training and Guide General information The Charles H. Upham is Yukon IV class frigate, Manufactured on the 14th February is fitted some state of the art navigational systems. In this document we will go over all the necessary information on how to be an effective Navigation operator. Propulsion - 2x Beta Hydri Heavy Industry Sublight Thrusters -256x gas manoeuvring thrusters (Foremost 32x thrusters responsible for MAC gun alignment) -1x Mark VI Cherenkov Drive Thrust - 4,534,000,000 N (4.534 billion N) Acceleration - 141.9 m/s² Superluminal speed: 115.8ly/day (42,295.9c) Daily duties The main duty of a navigational Officer is to ensure the vessel you operate on reaches their designated destination assigned by the Commanding Officer in charge. Whether it's moving the ship into low or high orbit around a planet, Docking with a space station to Warping to another system. Other duties include logging previous journeys into the computers and keeping records of the flights Examining star maps for potential routes to take and checking restricted zones coordinating with fellow crew members onboard the Upham and surrounding vessels to avoid accidents- eg. Collisions Restricted zones A section of space which the ship must never enter regardless, This includes space sectors that house the following: A known black hole Imminent star explosion/Supernovas Hostile territory which the Upham is not to get involved with Quarantine zones Dense star clusters Quasars Plotting a course- System -When plotting a new course from planet to planet the officer at the station should input the coordinates to the new planet/planetoid. From that point they will follow the onboard computer's guide to ensure a safe travel. - Next, If autopilot is engaged it should be deactivated and switched to manual. From that point the gravity clamps are to be disengaged to break the ship from orbit around the planet. -For most journeys between planets in the same system the Upham should run at half speed for safety should it come into range of an asteroid belt/field it will have a higher chance of avoiding. -Upon reaching the new destination the engines should be cut to 1/4 power and gravity clamps should be engaged around the new planet, Once engaged the Upham's engines may be cut to null to save on fuel. -During this downtime the Navigation station may activate the autopilot to focus on other tasks that have been assigned but must be ready to return to their duties in a moment's notice. Plotting a course - Warp When plotting a course to a new system that requires the FTL jump drives. The officer at the station undergoes a few more procedures to ensure a safe passage. Preparing for a jump to a new system can be a dangerous job for the navigation which is crucial for the safety on the crew onboard. -Firstly the officer must input the co-ordinates to the new system on the onboard computers that will calculate the most ideal route to take. Once co-ordinates are in and the route is selected the Helmsman will bring the ship to half power. -From there the helmsman shall face the vessel in the direction given on the onboard screens. If the route is clear the Helmsman may increase power to full and should engage the warp drives. -As this can take a few moments for the FTL drives to warm up the officer should take this time to inform the crew onboard as to what is happening. Advising everyone to secure any loose ends. -Once the warp drives are primed, the lights will flash green. The Helmsman is clear to activate the FTL drives. -Upon exiting FTL speed on a successful jump. The vessel should gently be brought back down to half speed, and guided to its new resting location. -Refer to Plotting a course- system. WARNING When warping to an unknown system there is a chance of you warping into space debris (Asteroid fields/belts) So take caution. Entering Low/high Orbit TBA Docking at a space station Docking with a space station can be a difficult job and requires a lot of coordination. -Upon entering the space station's airspace the vessel should cut power to 1/4 speed and come in parallel to the station, The closer the vessel gets to the station the more the crew should be cutting engine power until the ship comes to a complete halt and await further instructions. You should never go head on with the station! -From there the crew will keep in constant contact with the station as they guide the ship into port. -Once given the all clear, the Station's crew will likely send out a few escort ships to guide the Upham into position. -Once in position the gravity clamps will be activated and the engines can be turned off. From that point the crew can stand down. If the station is abandoned, a few more procedures are to be put in place. -Firstly a small transport shuttle is to be sent to the station with 2-3 fleet crew members -The crew is to make their way to the control room and activate the necessary equipment to help bring in the Upham into the docks, Mainly the gravity locks -Once all activated the crew onboard the station will act as ATC to the Upham -With the lack of escort vessels the Upham's communication with the station is vital as to avoid damage to either the station or the ship -The crew should take the ship in slowly, this can be a lengthy process with the lack of escorts, the ATC tower being their only guide to avoid collisions until the ship is in position to activate the gravity clamps. From that point the engines will be cut and the crew can stand down. Combat Upon entering combat, As part of the Navigations crew, it is your duty to keep the ship from sustaining damage while also ensuring the other stations can perform their duties. While in combat the Helmsman will keep constant contact with the weapons officer as they go hand in hand. While evasive maneuvers are key to the survival of the Upham it is imperative that the weapons officer is able to fight back the hostile vessel to secure a victory in the battlefield. W.I.P

  6. Yeah with larger scale battles TAC is used quite a bit and admins that run it do a decent job. Bridge crew however, our RP is quite limited in terms of what we do. We don't really need to change server to rp. Most we would need is a more 'populated' skybox. Whether its other ships, A space station/depot or even an asteroid field. Granted some skyboxes would require some prop packs for the full experience. Another ideal suggestion is when there's enough Fleet on which there is from time to time. Put out a random /ev see how the playerbase reacts to the event. This would be more suited for internal issues onboard the Grant. We spend a lot of time in space, quite a lot of it is uncharted. have random space anomalies occur. Few ideas to just throw out there: Refueling at stations random ship encounters Friend/foe Black outs across the ship Asteroid fields New planet/solar system discoveries Deep space mysteries e.g random debris from an old federal starship drifting in space. Possible post sep mission. When the MI return to the Grant. Sep starship enters the AO and Grant fights it which would tie into random ship encounters. The possibilities are endless as space is vast. Anything can happen heh.
  7. Another lovely update, More to come when I get around to it.
