What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

Victoria had come from a family of psychics, so it would be no surprise that the child of Maria and Alexander Rose would be a psychic. She showed many of the telling signs of psychic ability in her childhood, somehow feeling a connection and link to the energy and emotions of the living things around her, whether it be her classmates who gave her a casual high five that could set off her ability, or to her beloved Saint-Bernard dog, which she always seemed to have a prominent connection with. As she reached adolescence her abilities seemed to grow further and further, though her control over them wasn’t as good as they could be though not from a lack of trying. This often caused her to miss days of school due to being unable to go to school one way or the other. Then as she joined the MI her psychic ability was fully recognised by the federation and she would be given proper training at last...

---

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

(Passive Scenario)

Perhaps a fellow trooper or friend of Victoria approaches her, they do not look completely fine but she didn’t need to look to tell that as she could sense the person’s sadness as they came near her, being the nice person she is she makes skin contact with the person to try and understand their problem, then first uses her words to try and calm them, if not successful she would use her abilities to try and calm the person's mind, possibly at risk to herself but a risk she would be willing to take to do some good with her abilities.

(Combat Scenario)

The MI drop onto a planet in order to fight against Separatist forces, there are few numbers of the MI and also few numbers of the Separatists, making this an up close and personal battle for both parties. Victoria is stationed on the patrol through the area and before she sees it she can sense it, an anger infused separatist coming to attack her, this causes her to back pace, before the threat has even shown itself, and get ready. The man rushes at her and her gun jams, an unlucky occurrence, so she thinks fast and uses her psychic ability to interfere with the man’s mind and overflow him to subdue him to being unconscious or to at least impede him in place, then un-jams her weapon to kill the man as he stay defenceless.

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

Sebastian Speirs was always very obviously a gifted child, despite growing up in a less than privileged neighbourhood. His spatial awareness had always been incredible, mastering simple tasks at a much earlier age than other children had. He excelled in school, particularly in mathematics, physics and, much to the surprise of his teachers, many sports and athletics. His ability to accurately discern how things were going to move, where things were going to go and where things were, even when blindfolded, was extraordinary and did not go unnoticed by his tutors. His abilities were tested during a young and gifted initiative run as psychic aptitude evaluations and it was soon found that he exhibited signs typical of many psychics. His abilities were further tested throughout his school years, leading to a confirmed diagnosis as a known psychic. Of course, this lead to a pressure placed upon him by his tutors and, more importantly, the examiners of the young and gifted program, to enter into Federal Service. As it happens, Sebastian had planned on this anyway, and he was accepted into the Military Intelligence Psychic Operations Division upon enlistment.

-

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

Gifted with the blessing and curse that is clairsentience, Sebastian would be able to use his abilities to determine the location of tunnels, enemy fortifications and other objectives far outside the range of any machine. A Sensor’s ability is not affected by any mundane shielding, able to penetrate even the thickest of walls to view what lies beyond. His ability to map out tunnels, remotely view installations, and do so all while in secrecy, is incredibly effective in ensuring the Mobile Infantry’s continue success. Especially powerful Sensors also find themselves occasionally employed by both the Infantry and Fleet to accurately call down orbital bombardments, allowing the Federation to destroy their enemies with pinpoint accuracy.

  • On the battlefield, during a deployment onto an Arachnid infested planet, Sebastian is called upon to map out the local tunnel system.
  • /report I’m using my powers to map out the local tunnel system. I’m specifically interested in any tunnels close to the surface nearby, any entrances that are already open, and any tunnels that look like they could be easily routed to the surface quickly to form a hole.
  • /me produces a pencil and notepad from his utility pouch, flicking the pad open to a clear page. He places the pencil against the notepad and then looks up, apparently staring into the distance. His eyes roll back into his head and, moments later, the pencil begins to scribble on the pad, a drawing quickly forming.
  • /roll (+whatever bonus)
  • (Say the result is a 75)
  • The admin would then provide whatever information they deem they feel is appropriate according to the roll. In this case, it is accurate information about nearby surface tunnels, a few tunnels are of particular note due to their high traffic nature and their proximity to the MI.
  • /it A drawing swiftly forms on the pad, a pencil rendition of what looks like a 3D sketch of an ant’s nest. It is surprisingly detailed and, judging from several markings made on the page by Sebastian, there are a few tunnels of interest.
  • /me fell out of his trance, his eyes rolling back into place and his shoulders sagging a little. He took a few seconds to compose himself before holding up the notepad to show the waiting command squad, “There is a tunnel, bearing one-one-two, six hundred and fifteen meters out, which has an opening to the surface. It leads deeper into the nest, as you can see. There’s another that’s primed to be open, bearing three-two-four, four hundred and fifty-seven meters out, that’s a busy tunnel, wide enough for tankers. Here’s your map, sergeants.”

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

At first, it was passed off as nothing. A young child making up stories to entertain themselves when the rest of the family was out working in the fields. Cyrus was a quiet and ill sort. Frequently wracked with migraines, and headaches, his family had always believed him to be a sort of bad omen. So, he was shuffled off to some far-off boarding school on Karrus as soon as it was legal to do so. There, the quiet and unassuming child was maliciously bullied by the aggressive, and ambitious Karrusian locals. In one particular incident, the local Karrusian children had cornered Anders in an alleyway, far from where anyone else could intervene. For all intents and purposes, he believed he was going to die in the alley, as there was no means of escape for him. In that moment, Anders shut his eyes and when he opened them, one of the boys laid unconscious on the ground, and the others were dragging him away.  The incident was reported by the boys to the Academy Anders was being educated at, and he was immediately transferred to another division of the school somewhere else on the planet.

From there, he was educated as normal, and enlisted in the Mobile Infantry at the age of eighteen, and scooped up by MIPOD as soon as possible.

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

The operation was proving successful, albeit for the HVT that continually tried to run. He was too valuable to kill, and Intel needed the information his brain had. Unfortunately, there were no Memory Men around. Anders looked to his handler, as if asking if he was needed to assist with the situation. The handler gave Anders the affirmation, and moved towards the HVT. He removed his glove from his hand, and placed it on the mans cheek. The HVT resisted, of course, but, it didn't really matter.

** Anders rolls to see what happens.

The HVT went limp, almost immediately. Out cold, and for a while too. Anders replaced his glove, nodding to his handler, and moving on with the rest of the Infantry, whom never even noticed the interaction.

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

Madeline Summers, throughout her lifetime had always been a 'People-person'. She was considered to be an empath by her peers, and didn't have a hard time connecting with anyone she met. It was not at the time understood that she had these abilities, but it was regarded that anyone in need could reach out to Madeline. Wanting to follow in her older sister's footsteps, she decided to enlist with the Mobile Infantry, which brought great pride to her family. During her time in the Academy, ranking officers quickly took note of the traits they she kept; and began to test her for the possibility of psychic ability.

It was found eventually, that Summers had possessed a certain degree of the TELEPATH trait, and as such was selected to join the ranks of MIPOD for mandatory training. Since then, she has been assigned to liaison with the 112th 'Bently's Bastards' Mobile Infantry Battalion, and is currently standing by for papers to get her situated.

Summers had been sat in the desk, her hands clasped gently whilst her eyes carefully fixated on the trooper before her. It had been a close friend after all, and she knew that they had been hurting. Her mind reached out, and she allowed herself to embrace the sudden flow of feeling that she felt within the own pit of her stomach. More than anything at all, there was a nagging sense of dread that hung over her. Anger, for those that had been lost in the line of battle. Regret, for the actions that could've been done to result in a combat situation. A hand lifted, and gently set itself on the Trooper's hand. It was a /warm/ touch, a slight pressure applied in a re-assuring manner. "You know you can talk to me. . .I'm here for you."

Trooper A let out a long, and heavy-hearted sigh. Flashes of war and decay had been the only thing that was in their mind, as if nothing else good could come of service. They began to spill out their heart, a tear coming to the right duct of their eye. It was heart wrenching, yet felt good to finally get off their chest.

Summers offered a smile, idly tucking away the pen and paper that had sat on her lap. It wouldn't be needed for this psych-evaluation, as requested by her handler. This was something she knew that many others faced, and would only be repeated for the tenth time that week.

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

Much like every other child within the Federation that is considered a legal being. He was tested several times throughout his life, starting from birth then again when he was four and eight. His powers weren't exactly something that was extremely common, so his results when he was four were chalked to that of a machine mishap, so he was sent on to carry his normal life. Finally when his eight year test came, the potential that was discovered was not considered a mishap and he was taken from his family in order to specialize him further. He was extremely gifted within the realms of Navigation, Adaptation, and Cartography.

Sensor

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

Though there are several situations where a sensor could prove extremely useful, the situation bellow is one of the most common.

Bently's Bastards are sent to the desolate and underfunded and somewhat neglected world of Tango Urilla on the intel of a massive Separatist movement that has gained momentum. The primary objective of the unit is to squish squash the Separatist Troglodytes. The maps of the planet are outdated and do not account for the expansive and tedious cave systems throughout the crust of the planet, so the Troglodytes might have the advantage here. This is a short lived idea, as a MIPOD with the specialization of Sensor can quickly take away this advantage through their psychic mapping of the cave systems. In practical use, this singular psychic unit would be placed either within a squad or more than likely in the command squad prior to the drop, and would use their power in conjunction with the squads resources and other specializations. On an out of character level, the player would have to communicate with the GM in charge via PM's or the /report features based on the action at hand. For instance, a /report if the player was preforming an action, this works as a check for the GM as well, if the GM would not like the player to do that, they can PM and let them know. If the action is allowed, however, the two would communicate in pm's that would help benefit the environment of role play and the In character objective.

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

As a child Achilles had an innate ability to tell when something was up, knowing most, if not all of someone's thoughts. He could tell the good from the bad and if someone were about to do something. This was taken as mere coincidence until a scuffle with police, local law enforcers beating up on a man to get information from him. Uncouth methods but such was life. Noticing the commotion the boy stepped over, not smart enough to avoid police affairs but he did protest the man's innocence. The officers merely scoffed until he told them that they didn't believe him and what they would do next. Weeks later the man was cleared of his charges against the Federation and Lovecraft was brought in for psychic evaluation, testing positive for potential.

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

Achilles sat down with the man. The soldier was weeping, head in his hands as that gentle sobbing broke through the otherwise strong silence that the room had. He reached out, not with an ungloved hand, but his mind. Thoughs that the trooper had flashed through his mind, thoughts that no well-minded man should have to suffer with. Lovecraft sought to dash these away, comforting the man over the death of his comrades; reassuring him that he was not to blame for their untimely end and that, he was ultimately redeemable. He could carry on, knowing his friends would be with him in spirit, urging him to push to greater feats. And the man lifted his head, wiping away the tears that stained his face.

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic? OR Why would the Federation believe you were a Psychic as a child?:

Ai Wu was born on short notice, and her mother, a younger and stronger woman had died unexpectedly upon giving birth. In an attempt of revitilization, her mother had been rushed to the E.R room. Her mother had unfortunately been pronounced dead. As for Ai Wu, although put through the various tests and treatments, it had seemed her Psychic data had been obscured, perhaps due to the disorganization after the rather tragic incident involving her mother’s passing.

Her mother being a lone, hard-working person for the past five months, Ai could not be referred to a father as there was none registered. Instead, the legal agents opted to send her to her extended family, particularly an uncle and aunt that lived in the area and were close relatives of her mother. Being there, she grew up normally, though given peculiarly special treatment from her new parents.

She had been sent off to school where she had most of her first out of family reactions, herself being a very shy and introverted person with little contact, and especially in her situation it was hard meeting new people. However, she managed to connect to people before even speaking to them- or at least, she was given an unusual feeling of such upon even gazing at someone.

This connection wasn’t strange enough however, as she continued on living her normal life. One day however, she found herself particularly aloof and unfocused on her work. Rather, she had been eyeing people, sensing some form of energy. At one point she broke gaze as suddenly her nose began to bleed. She went on with her school day pondering the situation, and a certain support staff suggested discussing it with her parents.

Coming back home after school, she did just that. Surprisingly enough, her auntie was more than happy to reveal to her the psychic potential. Her mother who had died had been a psychic herself, she even said, and although not an active user of that psychic energy, it was very pure and present. Ai was perplexed by all this new information, even scared at the truth that had been somewhat concealed from her. But in the end, she learned about her potential.

She spoke to the support staff within the school in reference to her possibly confirmed psychic power. The school, convinced by what experiences she had shared of this psychic energy being a possibility, decided to help her and redirected her to a hospital that was able to perform the tests with clear results. And indeed it was confirmed, she was psychic, and from the gathered results it seemed she leaned towards a particular subject of power, telepathy. The school had then offered the support she required for her new found proficiency, and throughout her school life she was aided in her path to becoming a successful telepath.

This skill also helped her social life, meeting new friends who were eager to learn about her ‘cool’ powers, who were also pretty new to it. She couldn’t really provide an example of her telepathic powers at work, however. Later on she was urged by her uncle to join the M.I, himself being a veteran of the mobile infantry. She didn’t really have a career path in mind, and M.I seemed like fun, so without hesitation she signed up.

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

It was her first drop, one of a common variety - point defense. Upon their arrival to a derelict building, it was repurposed into a Forward Operating Base, and although this mission was point defense, it was clear that the area had to be surveyed of threats first. Ai was interlocked with a bog-standard M.I fireteam on their journey to do such surveillance.

They happened upon a site of battle, recent from the looks of it. Gunpowder, bullets and weapons trailed the debris engulfed floors and blood coated the various bodies of insurgents and militia alike. However, they had heard no gunshots beforehand which gave a peculiar sensation. Ai was repressed by the horrific scene, but soldiered on nonetheless. They followed a trail of rubber skidding across the grass, most likely a vehicular crossing over to what seemed like a farm, far out from the semi-urban residential area they were holding. There were multiple lockups, a manor and a large barn. Immediately upon approaching the landmark, shots were fired from the closest of the lockups and the manor roof.

The fireteam managed to clear out the threat as they would normally do, and headed towards their next target on the farm. The barn- it was stern and seemed like ambush potential, but it was eerily empty. Then, a sound from the lockup not too far. Screaming, seemingly from a man barking orders. They had already been attacked by one of these insurgent crews stationed within a lockup, so common sense was to blow it up.

This order was close to being executed, before Ai had a sudden energy touch her mind. She began to feel sickened, unaware of what is going on. She could feel people in there, a certain purity within them too. A very sudden burst of thoughts caused her to blurt out something.

“The lock-up is full of innocents.”

Even she was perplexed as to why she said this, but either way she had already found trust in her accomplished telepathic skills. Feverishly, she made her way to the fireteam leader, a corporal. With the use of her mind, she gave the forewarning, only seconds from the final order of detonation. The corporal, already being able to recite a former past of when a similar blowing up of innocents occurred, decided to heed to the advice. He called off the detonation, and instead they found inside a team of two heavy armor insurgents, surrounded by multiple prisoners that were just ordinary working class people. Astonishingly, the prisoners managed to overpower their captors and secure themselves. They need only to be rescued by their militia, or, to their surprise- the M.I. She continued with the patrol, sickened and weakened but moralized by her ability to have saved those lives.

What is your backstory that would make you believe that your character was a Psychic?

Born in Sderot, Israel his earlier years were unremarkable. Both mother and father were present, both were citizens and both thoroughly appreciated the rewards and privileges the Federation had provided them. The second of three children, Arkady found himself between the crushing need to out do his overachieving older sister just as he felt a desire to be as relaxed as his younger brother. His lack of academic notability didn't help his cause, an older sibling who worked hard and a younger on who was naturally intellectual. It wasn't easy to shine through to his parents.

Things took a drastic change for a young Netanyahu however. Around his second year of secondary education his academic performance rose inexplicably. Finding himself capable of remembering vast amounts of information to simply regurgitate it accurately without so much as straining. While it was merely school level knowledge there was no doubt in his mind something changed. He got smart. His teachers on the other hand believed his dead sprint ahead of his peers to have been the result of constant cheating. While unappreciated by his educators over the years, an apt intelligence recruiter who'd been tracking his progression for a while yet eventually offered him an olive branch after he got into a rather violent altercation which resulted in the physical and mental impairing of another student mere weeks before his graduation.

While it was more than he'd expected, a career in Federal Intelligence wasn't something he could turn down. Literally. They gave him a simple ultimatum, serve time or serve time. Initially he assumed it'd be an experience to enjoy and boast about, and at first the feeling of power and control was thrilling to him, soon though it dissipated. Between the rigorous physical and mental conditioning demanded of him, the unsociable and extensive work weeks, and the fact that he regularly invaded the mental-privacy of both enemies and fellow citizens alike at remote blacksites that even he didn't know the name of. Eventually Netanyahu felt the reward of his work fade swiftly as the reality of it all settled in.

Barely three months into his fourth year, he resigned. Gladly accepting the repercussions of an early departure, thrust towards Mobile Intelligence to complete his Federal obligations.

Memory Man.

Write out a situation in which you would have to use one of your abilities?:

An apparently feminine figure sat bound to a rather archaic chair behind a table just as bare-bones and unappealing. Compared to the overtly high-tech nature of the dark lit room the furnishings were underwhelming, though to anyone viewing from the outside, it was rightly so. Nobody ever wound up in a room such as this because they did good things. Abruptly, panels overhead flickered once before they washed the room in critically cold lighting. Harshly illuminating the room, showing of it's full 'hominess'. The seated woman was bloodied and battered, barely remaining upright in her place.

With an audible hiss a door opened, decompressing it seemed, and a man clad in black trousers and a casual white t-shirt entered. Devoid of identifiers yet unafraid to show his face to the covert cameras and false walls. They sighed, boots tapping against the slick floor as they stepped up to the table. Tossing aside a stack of blank papers, simply for dramatisation's sake, and a clear bag of personal effects. Sleeping beauty awoke with a pained groan, neck craning to look up at the new arrival. They were wordless and admirably neutral. Netanyahu simply gave them an approving nod as he spoke "Listen to me. We all -- want the same thing here. All you need to do? Is explain. Provide me with answers."

He received little in the way of reply. The bound woman maintained her silence, breathing hoarsely before she sniffed loudly and spat a mouthful of saliva and blood out. To which Arkady simply blinked, head shaking in frustration "Major. Major Lawal!- It's not that hard. Answer the question. Why did you order your men, your company, to stand down when the rogue Fleet-" he never quite got to finish his sentence. A distinct chime resounded, causing him to direct his attention to one of the faux-walls and press two fingers to an ear. Netanyahu's speech was short, nearly protesting but ultimately he complied, nodding softly.

His hands plucked up the clear sealed bag, causing the bound woman to reorient her head in silent protest. He locked eyes with them as he sifted through it's contents, thumbing at a recording disc. A hummed slipped from his lips as an odd but all too familiar sensation rippled through him, carelessly he tossed the disc. It clattering on the table "You know and I both know your daughter'd rather have you home, than a death notification."

The psychic re-positioned, leaning in behind the officer. "Ma'am! I am going to ask you one more ti-" the defiant bark in reply he received was more than enough to trigger a complete 180. Without warning he clapped both hands against the back of the woman's head, driving her forwards. Her head to bounce off of the tabletop and blood poured from the captive's nose as they let out an angered shout. It seemed Netanyahu was done being polite.

A heavy hand pressed itself against the Captain's face, pushing the reeling man further down against the cold steel table. Restrained yells sounded, echoing through the room as whomever sat in the room adjacent depolarised a wall to watch. Face visible, hands clasped at their lower back as Arkady went about forcefully extracting the information in the other room -- eyes shut, brows knitted. Silently he traversed the woman's subconscious, breathing steadily as bits and pieces gradually came together to form. To separate fact from fiction. His calm in deep contrast to the agonising screams of the Major. There was a bigger picture to be sure and one with an unsettling truth behind it but the further he went the worse he felt, cleaving through a shallow sea of genuinely beautiful memories to uproot and extract the nastiest, most controversial among them.
