A gel-like substance that is based on methacryloyl-substituted tropoelastin (MeTro for short), a hybrid elastic protein, and can be squirted onto internal and external wounds to seal them up and encourage healing. The elastic proteins that make this substance possible are found within the Antaak System, specifically on the planets Komorra and Eden. It is pulled from the sinew of the Prosopis velutina trees that populate the planets' dry desert climate.

The MeTro formulation is that, within sixty seconds after it comes in contact with tissue surfaces, it solidifies into a gel-like phase. It will fill gaps and conform to the shape of the wounds it is used to treat.

There are three forumlas for MeTro, all come in syringe form, a sixty minute formula that will dissolve in sixty minutes, a ninety minute formula and a hundred-twenty minute formula that will dissolve in a hundred-twenty minutes. It degrades without leaving any kind of toxic leftovers in the body.

It can be further stabilised it by curing it on-site with a short light-mediated crosslinking treatment. Steri-strips work well for this. This allows the sealant to be very accurately placed and to tightly bond and interlock with structures on the tissue surface, keeping wounds near closed, leaving smaller scars on the affected trooper. The further stabilisation may not be pertinent for internal wounds.

It can be used to seal external lacerations, bullet wounds, internal punctures and  internal lacerations. However, the material will degrade after it's given time and the wound will reopen. Depending on the formula used, reapplication in the field will be necessary in some instances.

MeTro is only a temporary means of sealing wounds. Wounds sealed with MeTro will have to be fully treated ship-side by medical staff.  MeTro is now unlocked for the medical faction to use in roleplay.

OOC: What is the fail-rate of this, and is there any guarantee that the admins won't just shrug it off if they're intent on killing somebody? We already have a few methods which should, realistically, keep someone from dying, only to force them to die anyways. Is that still applicable or will there be the occasional time where medical might be able to circumvent a PK using this?

I ask because as a medic, it's very frustrating when you hit someone with an AAJT and few other extreme measures, only for them to 'still be bleeding and die' despite blood flow being cut to a certain region.

At this point, it's only sealing gel, ie. realistically, it only serves to speed up medical roleplay in the field. It's biological/more advanced bandages. Should the mission runner be unaware of this gel, tell them that it seals the skin and a) stops bleedings (external) and b) seals the wound so that planetary conditions (or other external effects) are nullified

As for actual fail rates: Mully decided on the three formulas - if the mission runner insists that the gel wears off faster and deviates from these times due to some external effects, my hands are as good as tied.

That being said, if anyone feels like a mission runner is deviating from any sort of established times with medical roleplay "just because" or thanks to some sort of seemingly silly reason, feel free to raise this to an XA so that the situation can be correctly looked into. Just please don't argue with them in-game during their mission. PK appeals exist for a reason.
