Born and raised in northern Scarvis, Kaarlo was born to a family of just his mother, and older brother. He joined the Federal service in an attempt to gain citizenship, and better his family's life. He however, decided to go career when news reached back to him that his brother and relatively young mother also joined Federal service, each in their own attempt to find some sense of purpose greater than themselves. He served for six years before receiving life threatening wounds, which threw him into a coma for multiple months. He spent the next few years in recovery, and figuring his next move for his life. He realized the drive and purpose service gave him, and he returned for his second term in his career service.
