New training rules. [IMPORTANT]

There are new rules in place for engineering when its comes to training's.

How the current process works, is when an engineer has finished completing a course, they are given a promotion as well as a cert. For example if a Third Specialist was to train in the Munitions course, they will get the rank of Second Specialist almost immediately after.

This is gonna change.

From now on, after a engineer completes a course, they will not be promoted. Instead, they have a week of proving they can use the knowledge they were taught whilst being under supervision. If within a week they show promise, they will be rewarded a promotion. For example if a drop lead sends good word about an engineer who was recently trained in a course and utilized those teachings well in a drop, it will be taken to higher ranking engineers for evaluation.

You will still earn a certification after a training (Of course), just not a promotion. This is to ensure people don't rush up the ranks with no actual knowledge, there are many people getting courses to soon after another, they are getting the next without even mastering the last and it needs to change.

Those who already have certs will be expected to prove they can use them well from now on, or risk potential demotion.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that's out the way, another thing.

Training's in the division are lacking in quality and need to change. We have gotten many reports that training's have become nothing more but reading from a text book, with no actual visual learning or own knowledge being utilized. From now on we want to see training's get to better standards, and become actually rewarding, this means more practical than theory. This goes out to everyone, including me, we all need to improve and I think with a good mindset we can all achieve that.

I may create some docs to help other engineers structure training's in the future, but for now it is up to us engineers to make training's great again!

If you have any questions don't hesitate to message me or Cipher on Steam or Discord. Or IC if that's your preference.

Thank you for reading, Wasps.

I personally just have an admin (Usually Bishop) TP us to the Sim room. Read the book to them and then do the actual hands on portion. You aren't learning anything if you just read the book, you gotta do the work also.

Even doing that still isn't really teaching it to them. They should be sat down in a classroom or even in the simulation room, and given whatever they're to be learning. Let them mess with it ICly and OOCly, see if they can figure out what it does, how it can be used etc. Then you walk them through its use, what the book says about it, and more importantly YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE with said thing, tips that may not have been taught, maybe a few details that aren't mentioned in the book but useful for its deployment. We're not trying to teach them the bear minimum, so when you have something to add, do so. Furthermore, the 'hands on' bit is more-so the week of field work they should be doing.

I do not agree that people should be given ranks because they've been doing a required aspect for a week. It should be earned otherwise, and certifications should be a completely separate ladder to climb.

I'm sorry that I didn't explain in detail when I said HANDS on experience. As in, teaching them in how to use the items we are using. Having the person ask ICly and OOCly how it works. When I haven't used something, I tell them and then we use it together. Im not teaching "bear minimum" I'm teaching them what they need to know how the item works or what they need to do to make it work.
