The Progenitors: Where We're At

Hi all,

 

Although we have been running fairly regular Progenitor events, I am conscious that (1) I am the only person authorized to run them (to keep a consistent storyline) which means some people might have missed some of the key events and (2) the most recent three day Progenitor event was a Pathfinder Operation and therefore only 8 people were involved.

 

 

The above graphic is a quick summary of where we are and some of the events that you can expect to take place in the future. 

 

Where we are/what we've done:

 

• Operation Omega (ICly known as the Battle of Terra Neue) took place between Sept 1st and Sept 3rd and was the event to debut both the Ulysses S. Grant and the Progenitors as an enemy faction.
• The Mobile Infantry captured a Progenitor thrall ("Sparky") with its weapon towards the middle of September. The Federal Forward Research Laboratory (FFRL) was founded as a playable faction server under the direction of Captain Ziola (@Kris) and through careful experimentation has since discovered several key facts about the Progenitors, including but not limited to:
  • The Progenitor thralls ("neons") seem to have had some of their vital organs enhanced or outright replaced with artificial tech implants - including an implant that seems to have supplanted their immune system, and an implant nestled in the pain centre of their brain that seems to force obedience through pain impulses. Further analysis on their immune system suggests that they were likely subjugated/enslaved around 2 million years ago.
  • Their mode of operating seems to be to invade a colony, eliminate the 10% that poses a significant threat of resistance, and to harvest the remainder of its inhabitants, presumably to draft into their military forces similar to the thralls.
  • They have technology (such as energy weapons/shields) that are in a whole new tier above Milky Wayian technology.
  • Their weapons and their technology seem to be powered by a power source that is totally foreign to us. Furthermore, their circuitry seems to be photonics (light) based rather than based on conventional electricity. Their weapons explode upon use by anyone besides their host, but only if their original host is killed.
• The Progenitors so far have made a concerted effort to avoid human and skinnie populations since the Battle of Terra Neue, focusing on (and by all reports decimating) the arachnids. Whilst on operation, the Mobile Infantry witnessed a brain bug voluntarily sacrifice itself and its colony to avoid falling into the hands of the Progenitors.
• Earlier this week the Pathfinders augmented by several members of the Mobile Infantry embarked on a 3 day operation (Operation Warhorse) to (1) take notes and observe the tactics followed by the Progenitors during the course of an invasion and (2) to place a tracking device aboard the Progenitor ark so that the Federation can track their movements. They were successful in both of these operations.
