<:: SUMMARY:Falkan IV, since it's discovery, has been discovered as a planet of potential value for the Federation. Firstly, as a mining colony, now as an Agrarian asset during a food shortage. Arachnid activity has been lessened to less than 45% of the planet, but tenacious efforts from the Arachnid in recent events dictate the Hivemind recognizes the importance the planet could potentially hold. Suggested solution: Operation Paladin.

 

 

OPERATION PALADIN

 

<:: INFANTRY COMPANIES ASSIGNED:  44th Morita Company, 212th Mechanized Infantry, 65th Morita Company, 79th Morita Company, 112th Specialized Morita Company, 82nd Morita Company, 90th Mechanized Infantry

 

<:: FLEET'S ASSIGNED: UCF-AFC 522 "John Mosby", the UCF-ACF 251 "Nathan Bedford Forrest", the UCF-ACF 525 'Ulysses S. Grant'

 

<:: OBJECTIVE: To conduct a pre-emptive strike on Arachnids massing on Falkan IV's quarantine zone, and secure the planet's assets for the Federation in it's time of need for food. 

 

<:: Commencement of Operation: December 13, 2017

 

Phase 1 -- Dec 13, 2297 -- stalemate

 

Infantry forces deployed around 0800 hours, Falkan IV Time. 112th, 212th, and the 44th were assigned as frontline units. With parts of the 112th leading the 44th, Bravo and Alpha companies were assigned with a special hammer and anvil strategy. Lieutenant Eleanor Tuuli led her platoon into a tunnel to flank the arachnid position, it was dug and overseen by the 212th, while Bravo Company was led in a full scale assault. Arachnid forces, specifically a brain bug, utilized seismic activity or lack thereof to lure UCF forces into an ambush. During the ambush, the Infantry discovered the arachnids to be strangely nesting above ground. Lieutenant Tuuli reported this in. After this ambush,  all companies besides Alpha were routed by Arachnid forces and retreated to their original lines. Faced with the decision of retreating or continuing the assault alone, Lieutenant Tuuli chose to lead her men into the hive. There, after wading through a sea of bugs, and at the expense of several Troopers, the Infantry stumbled into a pipeline system. Noticing the amount of larvae coating the pipe, Alpha followed it. They found themselves in the chamber of the brain, crippled by a Psychic force unlike any they'd encountered. LCpl. Ozias Manderly, when selected by the brain bug for intelligence extraction, elected instead to detonate a frag grenade, critically injuring the brain as well as several fellow trooper including Lieutenant Tuuli. Through Psychic interrogations, the Arachnids were discovered to have not only known about the food shortage, but also had been plotting to destroy the planet rather than colonize it to deny humanity the resources. 

 

 

// This is an Arachnid questline beginning today, that will tie into the food shortages the Federation is experiencing, as well as an attempt to introduce new castes of Arachnid, and push Arachnid prevalence story-wise. This is SST after all. Hope you like it as much as my last Arachnid questline.
