Rules

These rules apply to the whole community, incluuding ingame, forums, Discord, etc. unless otherwise specified.

1. This is a grown up community: act like adults & don't act like a dickhead.
2. Treat this place like a pub or a bar. That is to say don't say shit that wouldn't be appropriate in any other public space. I feel like the sorts of people this rule is aimed might not understand the nuance I'm trying to convey here, so to be extra clear, that means you can't go around saying the fucking N-word. See rule 1.
3. We're a Starship Troopers roleplay server; nothing more, nothing less. We aren't the next battleground for the culture war (there are far better venues), nor do we want to moderate your beef with BigDickJackson666 from My Little Pony roleplay. To be explicit, we'd appreciate it if you kept MAGA and trans rights stuff out of here: this is a diverse community with a wide range of political opinions - including I'm sure odious opinions I personally am really enthusiastic to not in any circumstance hear if I can help it - and these are topics that tend to spiral out of control and leave everybody feeling uncomfortable. If you're politically engaged, all power to you - but not in here please.
4. This isn't a safe space. People are allowed to disagree with one another - heatedly if they choose to. If you say something egregious or dumb, expect someone else to call you an idiot (you are absolutely welcome to give as good back as you get). That being said we draw the line when things begin to resemble bullying (rule 1: don't be a dickhead). If you're going to have disagreement, have that disagreement and then bury the hatchet.
5. Keep the conversations in public channels, within reason, safe for work. .net is an old community with a contingent of military fanatics who have subsequently grown up to assume roles in government or the military - roles where periodically a retiree with an 80s mindset review things like their their Discords for anything sketchy; don't say or do anything that'll imperil those folks.
6. Treat our staff members with courtesy and respect when they are acting in an official capacity. They're volunteers - we're all volunteers. Nobody is paid to do this. If anything, it costs us in terms of time and money to make content for you. It's a pretty good deal if you ask me!
7. The community is fundamentally a dictatorship. We like to think as far as dictators go we are quite reasonable and benevolent but at the end of the day what we say goes. That aside, we're not sociopaths and we don't intend to treat our playerbase like playthings: we expect staff to conduct themselves in a manner that befits their post at all times. If you feel you've been mistreated by a staff member, reach out to an Executive Admin (or if you think an XA is being a dickhead reach out directly to me).
8. We have a zero tolerance policy on erotic roleplay (ERP) on our platforms. If you're going to do it, fade to black. Do not share excerpts, logs or gossip about people ERPing. As far as this community is concerned, we are all blissfully unaware that ERP exists, and outside of reporting it discretely to our staff, anyone who shatters that ignorance (either by being caught doing it or churning the rumour mill) will earn themselves a swift ban.
9. Charged themes like rape or child harm are generally forbidden from being invoked on SSTRP; certainly they are discouraged in things like backstories. Sometimes events on the server may invoke these themes (per "war is hell") - but they'll be ran exclusively by admins I personally trust to handle these topics with the delicacy, respect and deference they demand.
10. This community is aimed at adults. We'd prefer those who are under-aged didn't play. If you're going to play anyway, please don't disclose your age to anyone under any circumstance. It's for your own safety.
11. To be clear, open, and transparent, we are rarely if ever going to be clear, open or transparent when it comes to matters of staff discipline. We don't criticise our staff in public. As far as we're concerned, that's a strictly internal matter. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean we're not taking it seriously; it's simply that whatever the outcome of a complaint is we don't want to publicly humiliate anyone, especially someone who has contributed to this place, without a damn good reason.
